Friday the 13th. A Myth or reality?

The myth of Friday the 13th being an unlucky day has its origins in religious and superstitious beliefs. The number 13 has long been considered unlucky, with one theory tracing it back to the Last Supper, where Judas, the betrayer of Jesus, was the 13th person to sit at the table. Additionally, in the Christian tradition, Friday is associated with the crucifixion of Jesus.

Combining these two elements, the combination of the 13th day of the month falling on a Friday was thought to be particularly unlucky. The superstition of Friday the 13th being a day of bad luck is widely believed in many cultures around the world.

Many people believe that bad things happen more frequently on this day, and some refuse to travel, make important decisions, or even leave their homes on Friday the 13th. Some hotels and buildings skip the 13th floor, some airlines avoid having a 13th row, and some people avoid starting any important projects on that day.

The fear of Friday the 13th is known as "friggatriskaidekaphobia" or "paraskevidekatriaphobia" which is derived from the Greek word "paraskevi" meaning Friday, and "dekatreis" meaning thirteen. Friday the 13th is a horror franchise as well that began with the release of the eponymous film in 1980. The franchise includes twelve films, a television series, novels, comic books, and various merchandise.

The films center around a mysterious and vengeful killer named Jason Voorhees, who stalks and kills groups of people, usually teenagers, at a summer camp called Camp Crystal Lake. The franchise is notable for its graphic violence and its iconic hockey mask worn by the killer, Jason Voorhees. Friday the 13th is considered one of the most successful horror franchises of all time and has a devoted fan base.

However, It's worth mentioning that the fear of Friday 13th is not based on any scientific or factual evidence and it is just a superstition. Many people consider it as a fun day to watch horror movies and enjoy the spooky atmosphere.
